Fashion..

1. List the changes that were made to the model's face in the computer. (Look carefully)
-her neck was made to look longer
-her face was made to look skinnier
-her eyes were digitally enhanced to look bigger
-her lips were enhanced to look bigger

2. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like this in a photo? Why or why not?
I don't think it is because then what you are looking at is not even a real person and it is impossible to look like that so you feel bad about yourself because you can't look "beautiful".

3. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
It depends, like if it is for a commercial, then of course your model will be wearing make-up, but you should not have her digitally enhanced.

4. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
No changes that are done on the computer are okay, if it is like putting on make up and doing hair then that is fine.

5. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
With fashion photography everything has to be perfect and has a standard you have to met for it to look good, photojournalism isn't like that, with photojournalism, you are accepted the way you are and all photo's are considered beautiful and perfect.

6. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each?
With fashion photography, everything has to be perfect, so you want to enhance and make everything look the way you want it no matter how much you change it, with photojournalism, the pictures you take don't have to look perfect to everyone, usually your the only one that it really matters who likes it.

Lytro Warm-Up

1. The photo would zoom in and then it would look 3d and then it would focus it to the whole picture and not be blur no more

2. It has the ability to change the perspective of the view of the photo

3. The photographer had to focus on one part of the photo and not the other to make this work

4. I would buy the camera it is a well enough to spend the money on it and it is a great camera

Self Portrait & Portraits II

Settings—The Other Subject

-The settings in which you make pictures of people are important because they add to the viewer's understanding of your subject. The room in which a person lives or works, their house, the city street they walk, the place in which they seek relaxation—whatever it is, the setting provides information about people and tells us something about their lives. Seek balance between subject and environment. Include enough of the setting to aid your image, but not so much that the subject is lost in it.

Emotions

-Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.

Get Closer

-The most common mistake made by photographers is that they are not physically close enough to their subjects. In some cases this means that the center of interest—the subject—is just a speck, too small to have any impact. Even when it is big enough to be decipherable, it usually carries little meaning. Viewers can sense when a subject is small because it was supposed to be and when it's small because the photographer was too shy to get close.
Don't be shy. If you approach people in the right way, they'll usually be happy to have their picture made. It's up to you to break the ice and get them to cooperate. Joke around with them. Tell them why you want to make the picture. Practice with people you know so that you are comfortable; people can sense when you aren't.

Environmental Portrait:

I like this picture because of the angel it was taken and also because of the saying on her arm. The quote is very true "Through adversity there is redemption."

I also like this photo because it shows what he has to do everyday of his life. And it showing how he makes his yarn.

Photography Self Portrait:

I like this picture because I like how she's looking up and also because you can see what is behind her, it's not just a plain background.

The reason I chose this picture is because I like how you can only see half her face but it shows a lot of detail and emotion. And also because at the bottom on the picture it showing a shadow, and it's black and white.

 Casual Portrait:

I like these two pictures because it shows a background and it's a plain picture of use their faces. I also like how the colors in their shirts enhance their skin tone.

In the picture I plan on taking for my self portrait I plan on shooting my self and maybe my friends son. To make my shot successful I will follow the rules of photography. The setting I will be shooting is either in the house or the yard outside.

American Soldier Slideshow ...

The most powerful picture I think is when he is standing looking own at the lines of recruits.
-Set 1: Image 1 to 9.
-Set 2: Image 10 to 34 and also 49.
-Set 3: Image 50 to 70.
-Set 4: Image 71 to 83

The most powerful pictures ware the Back to Denver ones, because it shows how many people missed him.

The pictures worked together really well it shows how someones life is when the sign up for the Army to when they are in training to when they return home.

C.These pictures tell a story because it shows everything he's been through and shows where he's been and all the things he has done.
3. A: Mostly past tense because its all he had done.so it happened before.

4. Ian is joining a dog pile because he wants to get his presents first before all the other soldiers but throwing himself on top of them on Christmas night in a military area

5. The videos give more details to his story. They share more of what he has done and shared with others and what he's been through and what he has felt of all of this.

B.Well for example the people that are in the pictures are actually saying all of their feelings and the things they shared.

C.Pictures are better than videos because they can hide a mystery.Kind of like lets say you can see some people throwing themselves to a swimming pool but its just showing you what that person or those people are doing not why they're doing it.So it can keep a mystery and have you interested in whats the reason.

Ian is sleeping at this moment because he got work done,he's in his room he just layer there and is now sleeping. When he woke up he felt satisfied with his rest but he figured out he missed dinner.

Ian is hanging up some christmas lights at the moment on top of a door by their military house just to remember home and not feel lonely before christmas night.Later on they put up a tree but it was too bright

Aperture ..

Aperture F2.8  Part of the tee and the Cheetah.

F16 The Water and the rocks.

High Shutter Speed

Low Shutter Speed

I would of shoot the diamonds performance for the high shutter speed
I would of shoot the DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle slow shutter speed

ISO

1.That you can actually see the ball and you can take a good picture
2.When there is plenty of light you should use a low ISO
3.When there is not enough light you should use a high ISO

F4- looks the best at 1/250 sec, the background looks blurry
F5.6- looks the best at 1/60 sec, you can barely see the background
F8-looks the best at 1/30 sec, the background looks blurry
F11-looks the best at 1/30 sec, the background looks a little blurry
F16-looks the best at 1/30 sec, the can see the back ground
F22-looks the best at 1/8 sec. the back ground look normal
as you change the F-stop the image get dark and bright

Funny Captions

The baby is sticking the cats tail in his mouth so he eat it in the yard during the afternoon because he's hungry and theres nothing else around. The baby was sitting in a covered grassed area because the grass is dark.

The polar bear is trying to put a funnel in it's mouth at the zoo yesterday because he's bored. The day it happened it was very sunny outside.

The small dog is sitting a big dog bowl saying killer on the kitchen floor during the morning before school because he's hungry.

Black && White Photos Part 3..

What caught my eye about William Kleins photography is that he mainly shoots female black and white photos. Also something that caught my eye was the his pictures aren't plain, theres always something that stands out in the picture.

In the picture to the right, I see a woman smoking a cigarette with a vail and flowers on her head. I smell the smoke from the cigarette, the cigarette isn't lit, but I can smell the smoke by looking it. I hear her humming because it seems like she's thinking about something, and when I think I seem to hum to myself. I taste the cigarette. I feel the vail around her head, it looks like it feels like wire because wire has boxes like the vail does in the picture.

In the picture to the left, I see two couples sitting on a bench outside at a park with trees in the background, and to other women on another bench, I also see a building in the back behind the trees. I smell the freshness outside because of the trees. I hear the wind behind the people because it seems like it's a nice day outside in the picture so there would probably be wind or birds in the background. I taste nothing and I feel like the man is tired or sad because he has his head down, leaning on his wife next to him.

Academic Shoot

Rules Of Thirds
I followed the Rule of Thirds rule because I only got  picture of three people. The main subject I wanted people to see first was the middle student doing her work. I think it is clear because she's the middle person in the picture and she's closer to the camera. Something I could have done different was shot a picture with  no one in the background.

Avoiding Merger
I chose his picture for the rule Avoiding Mergers because you see the main person, but then you see someone cut out and you only see their legs. The subject of this picture was the person cut out. I do think it is obvious because the person has a bright shirt on that stands out. I think I could have shot the picture from a different angel.

Simplicity
This picture shows the rule of Simplicity because it shows just one person by with not that much in the background and he's smiling. It's a simple picture. The main subject is the boy smiling. I think it is obvious because he's the only object in the picture.

Framing
The picture I took shows the rule of Framing, it shows framing because it looks like Josh is inside of a frame but it's really the wall. The subject is the boy in the middle of the frame. it is clear what the subject is because the wall really does look like a frame. If I could do something different I would probably took the picture vertically.

Balance
I think this shows Balance because theres only two people in the picture. The subject of the picture is the girl teaching the class. I think it's obvious because the other person in the picture is just looking at the board and the main girl is writing. I probably would have done a whole new picture for Balance if I could.

Lines
The picture to the left shows the rule if Lines because it shows two rows of desks. The main subject is the two rows. I don't think it's too movies because it look like the girl is the win attraction to the picture. If I could change something I probably would angel the camera differently.

Next Theme..

The theme I think we should do in class is anything bright colored and random faces. Because at Akins theres all kind of different looks and personalities, which means there would be people doing different expressions. I think we should use both phones and the original camera we use already because theres different quality in the cameras lens and he phones camera, so the pictures would be different. I would like to put the mural in the cafeteria or by the main stairway so everyone can see it when they come in and not just Akins students and staff.

Africa and Mural Project...

I really liked this powerpoint, I liked the variety of pictures and all the animals. I chose this picture out off all f them because I love giraffes and I also like how you can see the horizon in the background. What really caught my eye was the way the clouds were formed in the sky. The rules of photography in this picture is balance because theres an even amount of giraffes and they're in the same distance.
-What kind of camera does he use?
He used a Pentax 67II system camera with two fixes lenses.
- What is his reason for taking these photos?
When he was directing the Earth Song in Tanzania, he fell in love with the land and the animals.
- What is his hope for taking these types of photos?
His goals was to record a last testament to animals before they go extinct.
"Man is the only animal for whom his own existence is a problem which he has to solve.
"Africa is Africa because of the animals there. The elephants, lions, giraffes, cheetah, rhinos- they are all iconic creatures that exert a powerful, deep emotional and mythical  hold over out imaginations."

Academic & Service Community

The photo I really liked was the one titled, "Junior Year." I really liked this picture because it shows a boy inside of the library reading books about the SAT Test. It shows that your Junior year is really important, because you learn about the SAT and you take the PSAT tests for practice.
The rules of photography that are used in this picture are filing the frame because there are books all around him  and in front of him.

A place I found find pictures like the ones I saw today would be inside classrooms and maybe at Blue & Gold Night. I would go into Ms.Yopps' art class or Ms. Fayads' History class. When take pictures of involving academics I could take pictures of kids reading or doing classwork, or maybe helping the teacher.

Academic Shoot Preview...

THE STORY..

The story behind this picture is showing that teachers and students can get along, because the two students and the teacher are smiling.

ACTION & EMOTION..

This has a lot of action and emotion in it because you can see the water flying from the cup and the emotion is the two girls shocked and smiling.

   FILLING THE FRAME..

The picture fills the frame with a lot of different objects, such as people pots bags and there is barely any sky showing in the top right corner.
